It’s the Lucky Guy‘s birthday today — and in between work deadlines, I’m doing this:

Yes, you do see FOUR lasagnas in progress above. I’m also attempting to make my first-ever homemade carrot cake. And I’ve got the ingredients for two different salads — beet and feta, as well as leek and pomegranate — waiting for me.
“Thanks for being born,” I told the Lucky Guy earlier today. I meant it, but he started to crack up.
So, tonight seemed like the perfect opportunity to bring our friends and family together to meet each other. Yes, I’ve had dinner at his family’s home — and on my side, you already know that Aunt Marge is a big fan.
But after dating for almost nine months, my Dad — who has kicked prostate cancer in the butt! — has yet to meet his parents. So, tonight’s the night. Both my father and LG’s step-father are from Boston, so this should be interesting…. In the meantime, M roped in a few nine-year-old girls to help her be official party DJs. She’s taking song requests — and not just Radio Disney.
~~~
At last, I’m thrilled to announce the most recent winners!
Carole Shattil, founder of CheckMates, Inc, said it was too tough to choose one winner for a one-on-one phone dating consultations. So, she chose TWO of you!
Melinda and Oakland Mama.
Please report back here to let us know how it goes, okay?
~~~
And, chosen by Random.org, the winners of Prince Harming Syndrome by Karen Salmansohn, are:
New Single Mama and Love Babz.
All right, back to that lasagna….

Well, happy birthday to the birthday boy, and good luck to “The Meeting.” Nothing like a good plate of homemade lasagna to get things going…

Bottled sauce? Eeww
@Ms. Belinda: I doctored up that bottled sauce with lots of garlic and spices. If bottled sauce grosses you out, would you care to post a recipe here with sauce-from-scratch?
By the way, I loved the book I won on your site about “Getting Naked…” Great book!!

Unfortunately, my Dad had come down with a bad cold… and couldn’t make it. That means we’ll have a more intimate dinner post-Halloween with the parents. Right Dad?
Hope it all went well!

Happy birthday to your guy! My son is traveling out of state to meet his girlfriends parents over Thanksgiving. This is a first for him and I’m hoping he won’t be too nervous and make a good impression. I know how special he is, but they don’t know my boy…
