The men we love, and more

by singlemomseeking on February 13, 2009

Update:

Although ABC left the “h” off my last name,  you can view the live talk show here!

“Dating Tips for Single Parents: Add Sizzle to Your Love Live!

(Just ignore the weird things I do with my eyebrows!)

~~~
Today at Singlemommyhood, Dr. Leah and I send Valentines to some special men.
Read about the men we love here.
In the meantime, I’m usually a fast, confident decision-maker.
But it’s almost midnight and I still haven’t decided what I’m going to wear on live TV tomorrow for ABC’s “View from the Bay” Pajama Fashion Show.
Everyone agrees that I should “can the flannel” (even my cousin Marge!).
SingleParentDad made me blush when he wrote that he “dreamt of this day, the day I get to choose your nightwear.” And he suggests I go with “the hoodie and lounge stuff”  because “I like a woman in comfy clothes that invite a cuddle.”
M agrees. I did a fashion show for her tonight and she says “yes” to the heart hoodie — with these cute pink sweatpants that say “Full of hope” on the tush. (Wait, haven’t I told single moms NOT to wear sweatpants in public?)
I’ll be on somewhere between the “Aphrodisiacs & Wine Pairings” and  “Sally Kellerman’s fudge.” Yes, I’m just a tad nervous.
At this very moment, however, I’m feeling a red silky Victoria’s Secret robe — with black stretch pants. (This is a photo of the robe!)
I love how Won put it: “Just be true to you, and you can’t go wrong! Your light will shine from within if you are comfortable and right within yourself.”
The morning of Valentine’s Day –9 to 10 a.m. PST — I’ll be live on the radio talk show Childhood Matters.
Rona Renner, RN, and Dr. Joshua Coleman, Ph.D. will be asking me about dating as a single mom (!).
Please call in to say “hi” — more importantly, ask a question! We’d love to hear how you balance dating with single parenting. You could probably give ME some tips.
Here’s the number: 877-372-KIDS
You can also listen online LIVE here.
Lastly, I wish I could meet you all this Saturday for one big chocolate fest, a glass of wine, lots of laughter… and big hugs!
big chocolate fest, a glass of wine, lots of laughter… and big hugs!
I assume the Post Office did not live up to their mantra–through rain and sleet and snow and hail….
I just finished listening to your show on the radio (in Seattle) by the way. I loved it. I have recently found your blog and website and I am very happy to see so much support and information for those in my situation. I have been a single mom for 9 years. I dated when my son was about 2-5, and then was in a long term relationship, and I am now dating all over again with an 11 year old. It is very different for me with a child at this age, he is a lot more aware of what is going on now and wants to pick men for me with dogs and who like to camp. Keep up the great blogs… so I know I am not the only one who had these crazy experiences in the dating word! All my married friends love to hear my trials and tribulations, probably because they don’t have to live through them!
I’m relieved that all of you approved of the red robe! (Sorry Single Parent Dad — the co-host was in pink, and I didn’t want to clash.)
CC: I’m so honored that you listened from Seattle. Please keep us updated!
Gosia: What was that about the postman rings twice? The co-host, Spencer, was a divorced dad who got remarried last year!
Rachel – I love what your eyebrows do – they animate your face and highlight those killer eyes. I don’t know how many single guys seeking watch the View from the Bay (never even heard of it, myself, but then, I don’t have a TV), but your e-mail box must be overflowing at this point. And now I’m sorry I didn’t wander down the street to SadieDay’s last night to catch you in person. I hope it went well.
I just watched your Livin’ La Dolce Vida video, too, with Ms. Merrill and my schoolmate Jerusha, and you were a star there, too. I hope the Swedes didn’t keep that all to themselves.
You looked fabulous! Articulate and beautiful! I have no idea what you’re talking about with your eyebrows, they looked absolutely fine to me. Nothing weird going on there. The radio show was great too. BTW that was me, the English lady that called in from Mill Valley. I asked whether as a single parent it is invariably easier and “better” to date another single parent, and what the challenges of that might be (like introducing the children to each other). And also where can I meet other single parents for dating? And are there any single parent vacation / holiday places?
Nice. You looked great. Not so sure about the host wearing an ascot with PJs. It’s hard to pull that look off if your name isn’t Hef.
You did great! And kept the camera angles high! LOL
I did not realize Spencer was out west. I knew him briefly at GMA and then when he came back to DC. He’s a good guy!
Congrats!
