New Year’s: are you alone or with the kids?

by singlemomseeking on December 31, 2008

Thanks to my incredible single dad reader, Phil, for giving me the heads up that Lisa Belkin at the New York Times Motherlode was looking for guest columnists.

I gave it a shot… and Lisa is running my post today (thanks Lisa!).

Check it out: “Alone on New Year’s Eve.”

P.S. Phil, I’m sorry if I insulted you with my dig about “separated” men. I’d love to know what the rest of you think about that one.

We are on on our third New Year’s Eve alone – and just emerging from (as you put it SO well) the “devastating blur”. Like you guys, Sadie and I spend it together and I wouldn’t have it any other way. (However, after 1:00am, I did sneak out – leaving my mom with Sadie – for “adult time”).

Happy New Year Rachel & M. May the new year be filled with much love, health and happiness (and hoping for Mr. Right! for you)! 🙂

I read your post on the NYT; so much of it resonated with me.

For a moment, I was able to forget that I was sitting alone-without my two favorite people in the world, perhaps hoping there were three on that fave list.

Now, I am off to reach for my book…because I choose to.

Best to you and yours in the upcoming year.
