Hot single dad coming to town?

by singlemomseeking on November 14, 2008

First, my apologies: this is not my surprise — yet! This past week, however, has certainly surprised me.

This fall, I got a random email from a single dad vlogger, explaining that he’d recently launched a website for single dads:

I wanted to see if I can grab 20 minutes of your time for some advice,” RJ Jaramillo began.

“I would really love to get your input on — and what the site means to you. I know you are busy, but if you can give me a few minutes of your time…”

As it turns out, his email wasn’t so random:

RJ had actually tried to contact me more than one year ago — but I hadn’t responded. When he nicely explained this to me, I was so sorry! (I try to respond to everyone. Really I do.) Sure, I’d chat with him on the phone.

He called, and within five minutes, I tried to ignore the fact that he had a really soothing, kind voice.

Stay professional, I told myself.

After all, he was clearly very focused, organized, and responsible. However, he’s also a Leo — and I swore I heard a flirt lurking in there!

That night, I checked out RJ’s Single Dad Diaries. I was hooked: three single dads who dish on everything from Miley Cyrus to holiday anxiety to dating post-divorce.

One thing led to another, and RJ and I were emailing: hey, how about Single Mom and Dad Diaries?

Being a Leo and all, RJ suggested that we get right to business. Get this: he suggested that he hop on a plane… next week!

Our plan is: we’ll each take a day off work to make a series of single mom and dad videos — for ALL of you.

Isn’t this what you’d call “a working date”?

Here’s one irony: although we both talk about dating as single parents, neither of us has been on a date in months. (No, I’m not counting dinner with the ex who works in law enforcement.)

So, what do you think?

I mean, I’ve never met this guy! But what an opportunity, right?

Should I say “yes”?

Photos of RJ with his kids, and RJ overlooking a cliff in Ireland. He is adventurous, isn’t he?

Definitely go for it! If the professional chemistry turns into something personal, and you want to keep the professional side going, maybe one of his cohorts can take over that part.
