Condom giveaway: tell us about your fav condom

by singlemomseeking on June 30, 2008

Who knew that my post, Do you always use a condom?, would be one of the most popular ever? I’d like to thank all of you for your oh-so-honest thoughts on this uh, touchy, issue.

Andrea says that since her divorce, she has always asked men to play it safe, and they have: “Seriously? Asking you to risk your life and your future because it’s not as much fun for them?”

Little Man’s Mom agrees, saying that all it takes for her to be safe is a scary thought “of contracting something like AIDS and having my son standing my bedside in the hospital frightens me, especially if it was preventable.”

Let’s keep the conversation going. There are more condoms than ever out there… how freakin’ exciting! (Even a Trojan Vibrating Ring condom? Hello!)

Tell us what your favorite kind of condom is — and why.

ONE Condoms has offered to give away condoms to three lucky winners. ONE Condoms are “made with Sensatex, a safer, smoother, clearer, and purer form of latex.”

The top winner will get a 12-pack of Glowing Pleasures, “one to light the way. Expose this condom to the light for 30 seconds for up to 30 minutes of glowing fun!”

There will be two runner ups. A “ONE” 3-pack will be delivered to each winner:

  • Pride Pack are “Strong yet Sensitive – A Condom for the Rest of Us.”
  • Mixed Pleasures includes “Super Sensitive, 576 Sensations, Pleasure Dome, Color Sensations and Glowing Pleasures.”

As for me, I love any of the “Her Pleasure/Her Sensation” brands… I think it’s evident why.

P.S. Don’t forgot to put a dab of (condom-safe) lube in the end of the condom. Here’s to pumping up the pleasure…. and the safe sex.

Your turn! What’s your favorite condom out there? Why?

Read the book! Single Mom Seeking is a tell-all about how to date and remain a dedicated and involved parent. It’s a spunky, sexy, and moving chronicle of the humor, pitfalls, and rewards of balancing it all — single-mom style.

Lifestyles. With the shell tip? All the way, baby. I’ve had many a happy cycle knowing that there wasn’t going to be a baby…until I discovered the Paraguard IUD. Unfortunately, IUD’s are only safe if you’re in a monogomous relationship. Which I am. So cool.

I know this wasn’t the point of this post, but if I could, I would really like to smack the guys who try to weasel out of using condoms. Grow up, for god’s sake!

Rachel: I guess I still have this false assumption that married couples DON’T use condoms… because they can opt for birth control pills, the Nuva ring, you name it. Hmmm.

Melissa: I check out the shell tip. Thanks!

Could care less about what kind of condom it is as long as there’s a female in the room I’m happy.

Magnums. Enough said.

Contempo Exotica Snugger Fit

Why? Because some men (like, sadly, me) are actually honest with themselves and know they shouldn’t be using Magnums for the sake of both safety and the woman.

But, hey, I’d like to think that I’m confident to know that using the anti-Magnums doesn’t have to mean the lady will be complaining afterwards.

Good Gods, I can’t believe I’m saying this in a public forum…

Yes, theMatt had me blushing here, alone, in front of my computer screen. Thanks!

Mamas, let’s hear from you. Do you have any preferences, or it really doesn’t matter, as long everyone is playing it safe?

After my divorce, a friend bought me a “Sampler Tin” as a divorce present. It had every kind of condom imaginable inside.

My favorite? The Crown Skinless Skin. Pink tinted, super SUPER thin and wonderfully strong. It does not have that weird latex smell and it’s so thin, I don’t FEEL the condom.

My least favorite part of using condoms? Stopping to put the damn thing on. ;)

Thanks for Condoms 101. I’ve learned a lot.

I also noticed that many men replied to this post and I have not noticed that in the past. Is my observation correct?

Judy, that’s why I put the call out to the women. I’m flattered to hear from so many men (thanks guys, this is a first!)

But then again, it IS the guy who’s wearing the rain coat, right?

Mine’s definitely the non-latex by durex because I’m allergic to latex. would these be safe for me?

Hi BBx,

Rachel asked me to hop into the forum to answer your question about non-latex condoms. I understand that you currently prefer the Durex polyurethane condom, which is called Avanti.

Although One® does not currently have a non-latex condom in our product line, I would like to make you aware of some other non-latex condom options. The Durex Avanti is an extremely popular product for those with latex allergies, but there is also the Trojan Supra, which is also made of polyurethane.

Lifestyles has a new product on the market called SKYN. Unlike the other two options, SKYN is made of polyisoprene. Polyisoprene has the feel and stretch of latex, but does not contain the allergens that affect people with a sensitivity to latex.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the response Jared!

Is anyone else here allergic to latex?

Hi Jared,
Thanks so much for the other options. You are right – I do use Avanti (forgot it’s name) LOL.
Non-latex condoms aren’t much fun though… will there be any that have flavor, or glow in the dark, etc?
