I’m trying to write a light-hearted field guide to single men — and your mind is certainly sharper than mine right now.
Single dads, chime in, too!
What kind of single guys do you meet at the Trader Joe’s versus at Safeway?
Over here, the guys at Trader Joe’s are often sharp-looking, fit, polite, and focused. At Safeway, I’ve literally bumped into men with loaded carts (frozen food, beer), who turned and said, “Excuse me, sweetie!”
What’s your experience like with single guys in different grocery stores?
Then, there are the single guys in bookstores. The men at my local independent bookstore don’t give me the time of day — they are truly serious readers whom I wouldn’t make sharing a book with — but Barnes & Noble is seriously a pick up scene. I’m not sure if the guys are there to read.
Does that ring true for you, too?
Thank you!

Read the book! Single Mom Seeking is a tell-all about how to date and remain a dedicated and involved parent. It’s a spunky, sexy, and moving chronicle of the humor, pitfalls, and rewards of balancing it all — single-mom style. |

I can’t claim this as my own..perhaps DJ banter some late December…
…the place to find a man is Fred Meyers on Christmas Eve
Here Trader Joe guys are working hard on being PC…biking and publictransportation…self-centered but would never admit it..rather judgmental pretending to be all-accepting of others view points and usually not enough food in their carts.
Safeway guys are the alpha males.
I used to visit Lowes/Home Depot on Saturday mornings if I wanted to rub up against some testosterone until a girlfriend told me these married men were all wife beaten who had been ordered into weekend fix-it jobs and the real testosterone was to be found at 6:00am on Monday at the lumber yard
Well if you are looking for someone like me….
You can find me at before and after school care.
You can find me working out at the local YMCA (I’ve been slacking lately).
You can find me at my son’s various sports practices.
Local parks where my son is playing (me too usually).
I like to play sports, usually coed, so you can find me doing whatever may be in season. Beach volleyball is almost here!
You can find me hiking, biking, snowboarding, or at the beach swimming or struggling to figure out surfing.
You can find me at a concert or local stage listening to music (Normally without my son).
At Target, usually getting socks that my son has lost somehow.
The grocery store either getting produce, fresh fish, or re-stocking everything else.
Sometimes Total Wine or the wine section of a store looking for a good Cabernet.
If I go to a restaurant alone, it will probably be a sushi place at the bar, with a book.
If I am at a bar or coffee shop it is with a group of friends. I don’t really have time for bookstores, not like I used to, but if I’m there I’m usually in the children’s section with my son. Trader Joes is 40 miles from me so I’m not going there for anything. However they are proposing to put one just a mile from here so we’ll see. I tend to avoid malls. I like the outdoor ones though.
