My little sister cringes at the fact that I sometimes read fashion-filled, ads-down-your-throat magazines like Glamour. But this month, Glamour caught me off guard, in the best way. Imagine my surprise when I opened my recent issue to read about the magazine’s new blogger: Christine Coppa — a 26-year-old “with a cool job, a great apartment and a fun life in New York City” — who got knocked up and is writing all about it.
You’ve just got to give it to woman like Christine, who writes in her blog, Storked:
It’s no big secret, Christine writes.
I didn’t use a condom…
I’m 26, not 12. Is it always easy–nope, but it isn’t that hard either. JD is easy to love–too easy to love. Do I wish things were different? Nope. Did I always imagine things would be different than this? Yep. Like every other little girl, I played house with a doll and a “husband” and my Barbie was always escorted by Ken.
Just after giving birth on August 30th, Christine received “some pretty damning comments about my two-day old baby when I was in Hackensack Hospital — in a gown, with fresh stitches and a meek infant swaddled in my arms. I quickly signed off and went back to my baby and jello.”
Her boyfriend is MIA, but this mama is holding her head high following the birth of her baby, JD. I admire her. Don’t you?

I admire her because she made a choice and is living up to all her obligations and responsiblities (like you did). I just wish someone would let a forty-somethinger like me (creak, moan) have more of a say in the single mom genre. Oh, I know, I know. I’m trying!
