Rachel Sarah, aka Single Mom Seeking, is an award-winning journalist and the author of the dating memoir Single Mom Seeking.

Rachel attended Reed College, but left to work as a reporter at age 20. After working for two newspapers in Connecticut, she moved to Prague and wrote for the Prague Post. In her mid-20s, she went back to school to earn her degree in journalism. Rachel was working as a researcher at Time, Inc. when she became a mother. The name of her book clues you in about what happened next.

Today, Rachel runs her own editing and writing business. If you'd like to hire her, you can learn more at Rachel's Clips and at rachelsarah.com.

She has written for Family Circle, American Baby, Salon.com, MSN.com, MomLogic.com, Huffington Post, and LifetimeTV. She’s also a contractor for Match.com.

Rachel is contacted regularly as a parenting expert. Most recently, she was interviewed on The Today Show (July ‘09) for a segment on: "When is it OK for kids to run around naked?"

In October ’09, Rachel was a featured speaker at BlogWorld Conference in Las Vegas, "to get a close look inside the minds of mom bloggers." Rachel has also co-launched a site for parents with psychologist Dr. Leah Klungness and author of the best-selling self-help book for single parents: The Complete Single Mother. Their site, Singlemommyhood has quickly grown into an engaging and thriving "neighborhood.".

Her essays have also appeared in many anthologies, such as:

  • Because I Love Her: 30 Top Women Writers on the Mother-Daughter Relationship, with Arianna Huffington, Joyce Maynard, Amy Sohn, Karen Karbo (Mira, 2009)
  • Unbuttoned: Women Open Up About the Pleasures, Pains, and Politics of Breastfeeding (Harvard Common Press, 2009)
  • Single State of the Union: Single Women Speak Out on Life, Love and the Pursuit of Happiness (Avalon, 2007)
  • Literary Mama: Reading for the Maternally Inclined (Avalon, 2006).

Need a speaker? Her first-grade teacher wrote in her 1978 report card: "Rachel is very cooperative and dependable. She works and does her best, but has become a little too talkative."

Almost three decades later, not much has changed. If you want to hire her to speak about relationships, dating or parenting, she's game!
